Before going for your interview you should have a comprehensive understanding of the company and the job role you are applying for.
- Know how the company was born
It’s always a good idea to have some background knowledge on the company you are applying to work for. You should probably have a fair idea when the company was started, who started it and what was their purpose. Knowing these things helps you to understand what the company is and their purpose.
- What do they do?
What is the purpose of this company and what do they do? It’s a great question to know the answer to in case you are asked at interview. Usually on the company website you can find their aims and objectives or a statement of purpose, it would be a good idea to have a read over things like this to understand why the company exists.
- Why did you choose them? What sets them apart?
Since you are choosing to apply to a job within this company, and hopefully having read their background and statement of purpose, you should have an idea of what makes them different from other companies in the same field. Why did you choose to apply with them? Is it that they have a great support system for employees or that the company’s values align with your own? Knowing this and knowing your why is something that employers love to hear.
- What is the role you’ve applied for?
You should have a complete understanding of the job role before you have applied for it. Knowing what the job is, what skills and experience are required and what employers are looking for is required indefinitely.
- Why do you feel like a good fit for this job?
Another question interviewers love to ask is why do you feel like you would make a good fit for this job? They want to hear about what relevant experience or skills you have that would mean you perform well in this job and can excel in this career path. They want to hear you talk about yourself confidently and show you believe you are their best choice.
These are questions interviewers frequently love to ask to gauge an applicants understanding of the role and the company. If a candidate can answer confidentiality and informatively to each of these questions it showcases to the interviewers that they have gone above and beyond to understand these areas and always looks more favourably than someone who hasn’t bothered and can’t answer these things.
Make sure you know how to answer each of these questions before doing your interview.
Good luck!
