Senior Quantity Surveyor opportunity for a commercial building contractor based in county Derry / Londonderry, Northern Ireland


Donard Recruitment Belfast is currently working with a top NI construction company to assist in the recruitment for a new Senior Quantity Surveyor. This main contractor specialises in private, commercial and residential projects and require a new Senior QS to provide full contractual oversight on multiple projects both in NI and UK. This client has over 30 succcessful years in the industry and has picked up multiple awards and accreditations in their tenure. Our client is flexible regarding where this new senior quantity surveyor will be based. The ideal candidate will be expected to travel between Belfast and Derry and occassional travel to site in London, assisting with an already established commercial team. This is a great opportunity for a senior quantity surveyor to join a well renowned and respected construction company.

Responsibilities for the position include;

  • Be expected to take responsibility for the cost & value of projects.
  • Prepare tender packages, enquiries, analysis, negotiation and scope of works.
  • Negotiate valuations & final accounts for projects.
  • Have experience in delivering multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Also assist in establishing client’s requirements and undertake feasibility studies as well as allocating work to subcontractors.
  • Contracts management

What’s required?

  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
  • Relevant Main Contractor experience.
  • You will have at least 5 years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal & written.
  • Strong social housing experience is highly desirable
  • Strong working knowledge of contract documents, construction practices & techniques.
  • Ability to interpret & make calculations based on drawings.
  • Flexible & professional approach to work, self-motivated, confident & organised.
  • Sound IT skills including Microsoft Office & Excel.
